    The footwear production industry in Vietnam has been hit by further industrial action.

    The Hue Phong Footwear Company in Ho Chi Minh City closed earlier in the year after a strike by workers.

    Trade unions have said that negotiations with management have been fruitless and that more than 1,000 workers at the plant are continuing with the industrial action.

    They have asked for shorter working hours, higher rates of pay and better working conditions.
